This Orange Chicken is made with crispy fried chicken breast tossed, in a tangy and delicious homemade orange sauce. This Orange Chicken recipe is way better than takeout and ready in under 30 minutes.
1 Using a cutting board and sharp knife, cut your chicken breast into thick chunks. About a inch thick or to your desired size. Add your chicken pieces to a mixing bowl. To your chicken pieces, add in whisked eggs, lemon garlic & herb seasoning, a hefty pinch of salt, corn starch & flour. Mix together with your hands or a spoon until all chicken is fully coated.
3 Heat 2-4 inches of Oil in a wok or any heavy bottomed pot on medium-high heat. Once oil reaches 375 degrees, you're ready to fry. Add in your chicken pieces, cooking in batches and not overcrowding your pan. Fry for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
6 Set and place on wired rack to get rid of all excess oil. Carefully dispose of oil from wok. Remove wok from heat and set aside.
7 In a medium sized pot on medium-low heat, add in orange juice, soy sauce, rice vinegar, freshly minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar & red pepper flakes. Simmer for 2-3 minutes.
10 Add your sauce into a wok on medium-high heat. In a small mixing bowl, add in 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 1 tablespoon water, whisk together to create paste-like slurry. Add your slurry to your sauce to thicken, reduce heat to low and let simmer.
9 Add your chicken to your wok and toss in your orange sauce.
15 Garnish with green onions and serve with white or fried rice. ENJOY!
